Temporary path closure for tree felling and resurfacing – Marriott’s Way, Heath Lane, Lenwade
Essential tree felling and path resurfacing work is taking place from 22 November 2021 along the Marriott’s Way. The work is expected to take four weeks in total, weather permitting.
The work will be carried out in 2 stages, and due to the nature of the work the Marriott’s Way will need to be closed while work is underway. Fully signed diversion routes will be put into place.
Stage 1 of the path closure is to allow felling of ash trees affected by ash dieback to be carried out, near Blackwater Lane, and for resurfacing and drainage works 200m north west of Heath Lane. Stage 2 of the path closure will be for resurfacing and drainage works 200m south east of Heath Lane.
The surface will be improved for all users by scraping the surface of the footpath and laying an improved, unsealed granite surface throughout.
We will be installing the new drainage to help prevent the path becoming waterlogged during periods of heavy rain.
We aim to ensure there will be a minimum of three metres width throughout the path for its length. Some of the bollards will be removed, which will improve access for users of the trail, but still restricts access for vehicles.
This work is being undertaken following online reports from members of the public and the parish council over the current condition of the path and how this route has become increasingly difficult to access.
The County Council thanks people for their patience while this surfacing improvement work is carried out.
The work which will cost £31,250 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
